The world is neither for or against
me I recently discovered

(dogs yipping and howling
outside
as I napped)

and yet we dwell together
like
wayward companions

squatting on cold hard ground
and basking in the fire's warmth;

the clay is cold
and hard and wet
(tis true)
and yet

the fire

burns merrier
encompassed by it's cold companion.
